Camera! Lights! Action!

Hey friends and family! This is my new camera! Many of you I have already snapped a pic of and showed you how awesome it is, in my mind at least, LOL.  Get used to seeing it, a lot, because I have appointed myself the family photographer.  I will be there to capture those special moments; the celebrations, family gatherings and anything you want me to and sometimes when you don't want me to.  It may annoy you or you may be happy its there. Sometimes you won't care as long as I am not taking a picture of you, but I guarantee as time passes and we look back on all the photos, the memories and the moments long forgotten, you will be glad it was there.

I purchased the camera because I wanted to take better pictures of the items I make to put on this blog and it transformed into so much more.  I have always loved to take pictures and I have always had a camera. I was kinda the family photographer before I knew I was. I remember friends and family telling me to bring my camera or asking me if I had it with me, and would be upset if I didn't or did not charge my battery :: yes you did that::- you all created the monster you see in these pictures *insert evil laugh*

Happy New Year!

The beginning of a new year is the perfect time for starting out (or continuing) on the journey to become a better you.  This year I want to be a better blogger, better sewist* and all around better person-inside and out. So cheers to being better!

Because we are awesome already, we can only get better!

How do you want to be better?

* I call myself a sewist because seamstress implies that I have more skills then I really do, LOL.

Maker Faire

Leaving Joann's today with supplies for my next fashion statement I saw an advertisement for the Maker Faire.  I have read about this expo all over the Internet and other blogs and it will be in an area near me! The Maker Faire is an event created by Make Magazine to celebrate arts, crafts, engineering, science projects and the DIY (do-it-yourself) types. Yay me!

Away From Home

I have been away from home for work purposes and I have not had a chance to work on any projects.  I have been experiencing withdrawal symptoms.  I took two crochet projects, but it is just something about being in a lonely hotel room away from the ones you love that kills the creative spirit.  I don't usually watch TV but that is all I found myself doing once I made it in from work.  It was DREADFUL!

This is a holiday weekend and I am home (surrounded by love) and I already feel that creative spirit starting to recharge, looking at my sewing machine and my stash of yarn waiting for me to get to work.  Can't wait to see what happens!

Do I really Want to Do This? (How This All Started)

When I first started to crochet I read blogs like "The Crochet Dude" and "Monster Crochet.  There were others but those two were my favorites.  When I started to tip toe into sewing I searched for sewing blogs and was not too thrilled with what I found, until I came across BurdaStyle website and OMG, I was an addict almost immediately, been on there since January 2011.  Everyone has a blog on there and there are some pretty awesome ones like "oonaballoona" (Loves) and "Prudent Baby" (Awesome).  Oona site lead me to more awesomeness, but to follow all of the blogs and to keep up I had to create a Blogger account.  I resisted at first, but I had to know what everyone was doing, I needed a daily hit and I did not want to miss out on any of my favs, go here I am.

Once you sign in the ability to post is right there, so I asked myself, What the Hey, Why Not?, and myself answered back (LOL), Can you keep up with posting?  Will you have interesting subject matter?  Will anyone even follow you? I answered, everyone has one and the only way to get the answers is to try.  So here we go.  Someone please wish me luck!
