I'm a novice sewist with big ambitions to sew beautiful pieces of clothing, but I lack the skills that I need. I 've found an interim solution. Sewing In A Straight Line by Brett Bara former editor of my favorite crochet magazine, Crochet Today. I plan on sewing my way through this book to ramp up my skills (and my wardrobe.) There are home dec and other projects throughout the book.
This skirt is my first completed project. The One Hour Skirt, made with French Seams... seams that don't show any raw edges on the inside. I like French Seams, since I don't like making linings, it gives the piece a more professional look on the inside. The Skirt is made from drapery fabric that I got at the local superstore last year. When I found out it was Pantone's color of the year, Tangerine Tango, well I just had to make this skirt for spring. I wasn't all that happy with the results...too bulky and droopy around the waist.
I'm torn... is this worthy of wearing out or not?
